Do any of you stash away $ without DH knowing?

When I talk to my parents on the phone they always give me advice about anything. They have told me that I should have money saved without DH knowing just in case we ever get divorced/separated. I always tell them I understand and that I will.

I havent even started, I don't have any $ stashed away for just in case. Do any of you ladies do this?

It's never a bad idea to be prepared because although I love my Dh and he loves me I know we should expect the unexpected.

Thoughts?

Yup, I've got almost $1000, and considering DH and I just separated, it may come in very handy.

1 mom liked this

I do this...simply because my first marriage ended really badly and I left with 3 kids and our clothes...that was it, we stayed in a battered women's shelter for about 2 months until I had enough money saved for a place, it was tough on us, so I prepared myself, I set aside money until I had a certain amount (enough for rent, deposit, elec..things like that) I love my husband very much and I pray that nothing will ever happen but I have to protect myself and my future as well

My parents are always telling me to do it, because they say you never know what will happen in the future.

I guess I should maybe start and also just to save money in case of an emergency. I'm also a SAHM so DH is the only one working at the moment.

Nope. I don't keep secrets from my husband. I wouldn't want him to keep a secret stash either.

I think it's a little hurtful to save up money in case of divorce though its completely practical..

However, I save up on my own yes. We share funds and an account 100%, but here and there I stash 10 or 20$ for a rainy day or if I want to go out and get my hair cut. I like to surprise him. Sometimes I take things back that he asked to me take back and he just lets me have it, I stash that away too. I like to have my own disposible cash stash, when I'm bored or friends invite me out I always have a little something.
