stop it!! every one of us has been to the gyno, we know all about the benefits of breastfeeding. i got to breast feed for 3 weeks before my milk dried up i LOVED it and i will do it again with my next child, there's nothing better than that bond you form. BUT i'm not going to go around bashing ppl about their choice to ff like it or not formula does provide enough nutrients for the babies to not only survive but thrive. it doesn't mean they are bad moms if they choose to ff i'm sure they have good reasons even if it is they just don't want to. get off their backs you're not going to change their minds, you're just gonna make yourself look crazy.

the point is, it's NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

Quoting danie24:

I never said it wasn't a personal choice :)

So is smoking, drugs and drinking.. so is dropping out of school.. so is being a prostitute.

Just because something is a personal choice doesn't mean it's a healthy, smart choice.

Some personal choices are irresponsible, selfish or stupid. Some personal choices are responsible, healthy and smart.

It is what it is :)

Quoting SnapIt:

And that is their choice to be into natural living right? Should others go around and tell them they shouldn't be that way?

So is breastfeeding. It's a personal choice.

Quoting danie24:

LOL

Oh, please. Most BFing moms are into health and natural living.

It's typically the FFing moms who don't care what's put into their kid's bodies.

Quoting nursemc:
Just remember that many of the bf moms who carry on about how wonderful and sacred bf is go on to feed their kids mcdonalds and pump them full of drugs at the first sign of bad behavior. It's easy to be "perfect" when you have complete control over a helpless infant, but not so easy when they become an independant little person. Anyone who tells you they always do the right perfect thing for their kids is delusional.

We're in a forum having a discussion. I stated my opinion just like you did.

Why make a post in the first place if you don't want responses? Silly :)

are you referring to how i dried up??? i dried up because of breast surgery i didn't produce enough milk for my child. newsflash lady you don't know everyone's situation, or everything about breast feeding and formula feeding.

Quoting Anonymous:

If a woman truly researches both thoroughly, gives breast feeding a try then decides to not do it, then okay. It's amazing how a majority of women I know "dried up". If you stopped then you stopped, like others said "just own it". I guess I can respect someone saying that than lying. I still judge and think you're a selfish person but I don't say it. Keep giving your $ to formula companies ;)
To me it's like owning a farm with all the fresh fruits, veggies and meats you need but still going out to McD's for your food needs.

Quoting Anonymous:

I would never feed my child donated milk. That is sick. Would you also let a stranger share other bodily fluids with your baby?

Quoting Anonymous:

Blah blah blah....

Formula is crap.

Breastfeeding from Mom is number 1 option... Pumped milk from Mom is number 2... Donor milk is number 3.. Formula should only ever be a LAST resort.

Aww, I'm holier than thou?

Thank you :)

You don't have to be so defensive. Just because someone states a fact (like: organic fruits and veggies are healthier than McDonalds) doesn't mean they're trying to be "holier than thou". Facts are facts. Some choices are better and healthier than others. Period.

Making excuses as to why you "couldn't" make the healthiest choice for your kid is your business. You're right. But people are entitled to think you made a foolish choice.

I used to cry every time I breasted, not because it hurt, I just had some crazy mental thing attached to it. It truly made me sad and very anxious, even angry at my babies. I got pressured by my husbands family to breast feed, even though I knew from the beginning that I didnt want to. After 10 days or so i stopped trying and switched to formula. I was happier and was able to bond better with my kids.
This happened in both of my pregnancies. I'm pregnant right now and I'm planning to try to pump for the first few days for the colostrum, but that's it. Breast feeding is not for me

its because some people WANT to breastfeed and cant.. It makes them feel more bad/guilty/ashamed of using formula. I bf'd my oldest 3 and after a month of bfing my twins I couldnt anymore. When I gave them that first formula bottle i felt like such a failure. It was even harder when you come on here and read some of the bs people spew.

Quoting raegansmom:

I don't understand why ff moms let other peoples bs opinions get under their skin. If you are comfortable with your choices, who cares what some moron on the Internet has to say about it?
