Ok so I study criminal justice.. And just read something that really sickened and shocked me!! In 90 percent of rape cases.. The VICTIM has to pay for their own rape kit!! WTF IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!

Well for one, who are they going to bill if the rapist has not been charged yet? Innocent until proven guilty. Secondly, perhaps this needs to be focused that we need to build some form of financial support system to help fund these things. Until we do, then we gotta pay for it.

It is because it is done at hospitals.. And if you get treated at the hospital then you will get billed for it...Even if you are in a car wreck and it is the other persons fault you are still responsible for the bill.

It should be paid for by the investigating law enforcement agency. They don't bill insurance companies for traffic accident investigations, banks for investigating robberies, and people are not billed when autopsies are conducted due to suspicious death so why should collecting evidence in a rape investigation be any different?
