Can a baby be held too much?

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
If a baby screams the second its put down and stops the second its picked up, does that mean the baby is held too much?

I'm talking about an infant, less then 6 months old.

Yes. He/she needs to begin learning how to calm and comfort him/herself.

I don't think a baby can be held too much. They have a NEED to be near their mothers; it regulates their breathing, heartbeat, and body temperature.

The baby is crying cuz it wants to be held! I fail to see how that translates into being held too much!

But what if you are the daycare provider and can't hold the baby all day long? Do you let the baby cry or ignorr the other kids/babies?

Children need  love more at this age then learning how to calm themselves.
