birth times! how long was yours?

Posted by   + Show Post
Mine was quick, I started feeling cramps, like constipation, right after the needle went in for 5 hours. The doctor broke my water, then within minutes the cramps got VERY strong and I had a need to push. Active labour, where I was pushing was 13mins. And then little man was rushed off by the ped.
How long was everyone else in labour?

#1 Pit at 1030 am, broke my water at 5 or 6 pm, epidural at midnight, pushing from 330-530 am, cesarean at 630. So about 20 hours.

#2 First cx at 2:30 am, woke up again at 4:30 am, started getting serious about an hour later, fully dilated at noon, broke my water and started pushing at 3, born at 3:14.

Yes I had the same with my last 2 births.  Neither one of my doctors made it in time for the birth LOL.  The last one I warned them so they induced me in the hospital and made sure the doctor was in the building and she still didn't make it in time LOL

Quoting kryptomom:

From 1st contraction to birth:
1st dd - 1 hour 45 minutes

2nd dd - 2 hours 30 minutes, but she was 8 lbs, 8 oz

3rd ds -  1 hour 45 minutes

I don't know why they are so quick, but during the last birth, dh was assisting the nurse, because she was not prepared (even though I told her my history).  The down side of quick births is that you cannot get any pain meds or epidural.  Mine were completely natural.
