On public transit there is an unwritten code when choosing a seat.
Men always follow it, probably because the same rule applies to urinals.
Its the skip a seat rule.
If every damn seat on the bus is empty. Do not (!) Sit right beside me, your legs smooshed up against mine. Skip a damn seat!
If there's a 3-seat bench empty, sit in the far seat, not the middle.
If I am sitting on the far seat of a 3seater, pick the other side!
Why doe old ladies always ignore this rule?

I know what you mean, when I used to take the bus to work, some people would just sit right next to me when the rest of the seats were free. I always hated it because I liked the corner seat in the middle/front, so it was almost impossible to move after someone sat next to me. It wasn't old ladies that did it to me though, it was always the people that smelled like they hadn't showered in a week, that were carrying extra bags that they tried to pile around me, talking extra loud on their cell phone so I couldn't hear my headphones. Gah.

They sense your discomfort and choose to fuck with you anyway.

Me too! Especially at the DMV. Have you seen some of the weirdos there?

I believe it! I once asked my grandpa why he was so rude to stupid people we encountered and he told me "I'm 95 years old I earned the right to be curt! Besides I'm a little old man, and I can.". Um ok grandpa :/

I can't stand people who practially sit on top of me. Its rude and uncomfortable and I can be just about the same in return.

I hate that!!!!! UGH and all that room and it's always a pleasantly plump lady that wants to squeeze. I can't tell you how many times I've been close to death on the bus because I couldn't breathe.

You know what's worse? When it's summer time, and folks have shorts with Sweaty arms and legs..gross!

I never ride a bus but I live in Florida with a lot of older people. Its not just on busses, they just don't follow the don't get in my personal space rule at all!
