You have a fox a chicken and a bag of grain. You must cross a river with your boat only taking one at a time. If you leave the fox with the chicken he will eat it, and if you leave the chicken with the grain it will eat it. How do you get all three across safetly????

Take the chicken over first. Go back and bring the grain next, but instead of leaving the chicken with the grain, come back with the chicken. Leave the chicken on the first side and take the fox with you. Leave the fox on the other side with the grain. Then, go back over and get the chicken and bring it over.

Take the chicken. Go back and get the grain. Return with the chicken. Take the fox across. Go back and get the chicken.

take the chicken

go back get the fox

pick up the chicken & take it back

pick up the grain

get the chicken

learned it in school
