Strange baby names

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
Why do my friends try to think up really strange unusual names for their babies? Am I the only one that gets nauseated when I see that? For example, the name Diesel? And what is a Blaise? These kids have to grow up with that stuff.

My mom had a student named Payshinse (Patience) and a girl I went to school with just named her little girl Kaylin Luxurious. Lol. I agree-- they're getting pretty crazy.

I know children named Zero, Season and Imagine

I knew a Clover, Moonbeam and Apple growing up. They were siblings.

Our DD's name is Kinsley and we've had people tell us that it's made up and weird.

So we try not to judge other people's name choices.

Dh wanted to name this baby Oakley.

Quoting littleacorn:

My youngest's name is Oakley Acorn and our last name starts with K.  We get TONS of complements on his name and other kids just think he's cool.  No one has ever, to my knowledge made fun of him for his name.

I'm in the process of researching my family tree. I'm amazed at some of the names my ancestors had. Unusual names are a trend right now, but it's not the first time the trend has happened.

In my ancestory, I have the following names in a direct line from me to them (most in the 1700-1800's)

Amerika (1st generation immigrant)
Experience
Desire
Royal
Ransom
Lucretia
Ebenezer
Ichabod
Jabin (Twice- this name is a 2nd or 3rd generation Mayflower descendant)
Attaresta Melista
Philemon
Mindwell
Theophilius
Thankful
Mercy
Deliverance
Luna (Another Mayflower Descendant, and also Jabin the 1st's wife)
Tryphosa
Jemima

I also had a step-Great-Grandpa named Justin Case, and another named Charlie Brown. They were the 2nd and 3rd husbands of my dad's Grandmother.

An old friend of mine's father was named Nomo. The story being that he was her grandmother's third son and she wanted "nomo kids" my friend was Nomo's third daughter and her middle name is Nomora.

I don't thinkdifferent names are bad, but crazy names that you have to ask how to say it is wayyyy off.... For people like me ( my name is Brittany) I went to school with what seemed like one out of ever 10 girls had the same name.. So I tried to make sure my kids had names that you don't hear everyday... Lilliana (my daughter) Maknelee (my son)
