How do some of you

Live your lives in such a state of fear and "what ifs?" It isn't healthy to be so worried all the time, and you are teaching your children that the world is out to get them. Kids shouldn't be scared of everybody.

ETA:Just some of the posts floating around today...

Your kids could be kidnapped/molested!

Your car could be stolen/explode!

I mean, a rock could fall out of the sky and kill me, that doesn't mean I should never go outside!

You'll have to be more specific.

yes. kids should be afraid of people they don't know. There is nothing wrong with teaching them to be wary. Life is harsh. Unless you live in a small rural community there is no knowing what can happen. If that makes me a bad parent so be it.

It's one thing to teach kids about the dangers of society, but its wrong to have kids scared of every nit pickin' lil thing just because mama (general) is scared and severely over protective!

See, to me, that is teaching kids fear and judgement. It is ok to be cautious, but to be scared of everyone you don't know? That is basically teaching your child to judge a book by it's cover.
