7 moms liked this

gave you your children? Got you pregnant? Helped you get that great job? Introduced you to that great husband?

I'm sorry but I think it's so stupid when people say "I love my husband. I've been blessed." "We're pregnant again. We're so blessed". "My interview went so well. I got the job...YAY!! I'm so blessed."

Actually, you are fussy about who you married, lucky that you were fertile and you worked hard and probably earned the job.

I think it's dumb that you think you're blessed when you get pregnant. Does that mean that infertile women have been left that way by God and crack whore hookers get pregnant and "Blessed"? Really?

I think a lot of things are pure luck.

I also think that the really religious people that have to bible thump everyone are weak. You can't stand on your own two feet so you need to feel like something is guiding you. Sorry!! It's just how I feel.

And before you ask, I do believe in some higher power....just not the christian version of God. That version freaks my ass out.

I thought about posting this anon but eh....it's just not my style.

And yes, I DO feel better now. :D

EDIT- Since no one is reading my responses. When I say "Blessed" above I am specifically talking about people that think they were given things from God over someone else. NOT someone that thinks they've been blessed because their God gives them strength or anything else. I have met people like this and I do think it's dumb but I don't think it's dumb to use the word "blessed" as in "lucky" or you've been given strength or.....whatever. Anyway....on with the bashing.

LOL....I'll explain it one more time just for you. I'm not bashing all Christians, only those that think they are "special" because of their beliefs.

Quoting notjstasocermom:

sorry I didn't realize bashing someones religious beliefs was mature.

Quoting eckielady:

:)...Mature!! Okay, I posted because I was curious and honestly because I think I was taking the word "Blessed" wrong. I also didn't post just to say "I don't care what you think" because that WOULD be dumb.

Quoting notjstasocermom:

uh..cause I can... why did you post?

Quoting eckielady:

Then why did you post? It makes no sense to me when people leave these comments. Obviously you DO care or you would have just backed out of the thread.

Quoting notjstasocermom:

I know I'm blessed. it really doesn't bother me what some random person on an internet website thinks.

I do think God blessed me with my husband and child. I beliver god puts you through hard times to reward you. The people who havent had a baby, may have a genetic issue. But that has nothing to do with God.

Why the hell do believers think that any questioning of their faith is bashing?  Come on, now.  You believe in something for which there is ZERO proof, of course it will be questioned.

Sorry, I saw them. I can respect that though. It's seeing the positives right? I totally get that (If that's what you mean). I always say I never have a bad day. I have bad moments but if you let them ruin a whole day then you've missed all of the good moments or the lessons I learned. Did I take that right???

You skipped my replies as I say I am blessed and yet I am deaf.

1. I did not ask to be deaf

2. I would not choose to be deaf

3. I am deaf and I do feel blessed

Hey if that's how you feel, fine. But that's not going to stop how I feel. To each their own.

Yes and no... Blessed has more than one meaning for many people. Sometimes they are feeling blessed one way, sometimes the other way.

I will say however, some christians really do believe that they are given something because they asked for it. Maybe it is true, it is possible like asking for a miracle... But many believe that God's miracles are through other human beings (this is what I believe). Say for example doctors... save lives best they can. They are not perfect they dont always succeed but they do perform miracles.

I believe God blesses us with life and a particular gift in each one of us. I also believe many people never find their true gifts and use them.

Blessed is so many things that it is really impossible to answer it with a single statement.

No I see what you're saying.  I grew up in a VERY religious household.  We have had Priests and Nuns in the family and everything.

My one relative lords her 'blessings' over others, but what she is really doing is bragging.  She's rich because she married a banker, she has children because they had sex, they have a very expensive house and furniture because she insisted upon it.  None of them were "blessings" over anyone else, but she would say to those who got laid off "well, my husband's blessed with his job".  Actually he worked for several banks, he chose to leave each of them until he got into the one he was able to move up in - all at her insistance.  Nothing was a 'blessing' with it, but she would make others (and she did this intentionally to pump up her EGO!!!) feel like shit and "cursed".

Now here's the funny part.  Her husband became an alcoholic (not funny in itself) because of HER always over pushing him at work and with the kids and household (nothing was the best enough) and so now he has nothing to do with the kids, live in the same house, but drinks all the time to escape, does nothing around the house because of how she treated him, and couldn't care less about making more money- in fact quit his 'great' job for a lesser one because he was having such anxiety.  Her kids have practically nothing to do with her or the family because they were always over-pushed to be oh so much better in everything, simply for her, not them.

Hmmm, she no longer says they are blessed by everything that has happened.

But she would say to those who weren't doing as well as her before:

"Well, you should be grateful for the blessing you Do have" and then go into the litanny af ALL the things they had.

Now she doesn't.  Hmmm, God giving her the blessing of humility or Karma taking a spin?

*rolls eyes* what difference does it make in your life? Absolutely none. Get a hobby. Maybe you won't be so bored and feel the need to criticize other people's beliefs and feelings that have nothing to do with you.
