Have you ever came close to getting robbed? Or robbed at gunpoint?

I live in Macon, GA which is the 3rd highest crime area in the country (last I checked). One year me and a friend were onour way to do Christmas shopping and stopped for gas. This dude walked up (looked like the typical college kid) and said that he was from Athens and him and his pregnant girlfriend ran out of gas and was wondering if I could help him out. I'm not dumb enough to pull out all my cash at night in front of someone so I asked my friend to give me 5. I handed him the 5 and he got all loud and came at me like "u don't have a 50?" I started screaming at him to get the fuck away from me so that everyone was looking at us and he ran off. Now when someone asks me for money at night it's always a no. I don't care what their story is. Anyone have a scary story to share?

Essentially, yes. I shot him, and he died. Bash away, but he came into my house, into my room (I know he wasn't there to steal anything because he walked right past a lot of very expensive stuff and cash on the counter), with a gun. I told him to leave, leveled my gun on him, and told him again to leave or I would shoot. He raised his gun at me, and I shot him first. I was not charged with a crime, though I almost got a ticket for a noise violation.

Did u kill him?

Quoting Anonymous:

No, but a man broke into my house and went straight to my bedroom (presumably to rape me). He left in a body bag. Good thing, too. Turns out he had been stalking me and another woman for months.

I won't bash you!!! You did the right thing. You were defending yourself and now there is one less piece of trash walking the earth.

Absolutely right...but I can't resist noting that a .357 has excellent stopping power, and revolvers never jam! Also much easier to clean, IMHO... :)

That is based on personal preference, not all guns are created equal in weight/size and some are more powerful than others. I suggest going and trying a few, holding them, and seeing what you feel comfortable holding. You will also need a concealed carry permit and a permit to buy. You have to take additional classes for the concealed carry (at least in my state), and you have to renew it every so often.

Yes I know! What kind of gun would u recommend ?

Quoting Anonymous:

That's awesome... you should look into gun safety classes, if there are any in your area, usually offered through DNR (if you didn't already know this) and get a holster... attackers/robbers always go for your purse first. I hope you never have to use it, but happy you will have it just in case. :)

I'm gettin a gun :) just gotta learn how to use it.

But a gun or some pepper spray.... Women are more likely to get attacked then men, and yet men are the ones who seem to always carry guns for protection. Seriously, girls, have some means of protection.... pepper spray on your key chain is a good start, if you temporarily blind someone, you at least have a chance to get to safety.

I was held at gun point in NYC . I was walking down the street near Penn station about 8 at night . A man in a hooded sweatshirt grabbed me almost in a head lock and pulled me into a loading dock area and held his had over my mouth and he said don't scream or look at my face or I will kill you and held a gun to my head . He calmly said take your wallet . I was shaking so hard I could barely open my bag. He kept saying don't turn around bitch or you will be dead. I guess he  went though my wallet and took the money, i was facing the wall so scared to move. He said you don't know who I am but I know who you are jessica and if you go to the cops i will kill you now sit down . I sat down, he threw the wallet against the wall and took off.

I sat on the floor of the loading dock and cried for about 5 minutes before I would get up and leave. I did not go to the police , he knew my name and I was scared.
