What would society be like? Answer as you like. I don't have a particular reason for this post, but let's see where it takes us:)

True, I've been on and off foodstamps for about 2.5 years(just got back on a few months ago after being off of it for over a year), sometimes we would make enough to cover food, sometimes not so much. If it came to us starving though, I would give my kids away. That way they at least have a small chance at surviving. I say small, because the foster system would be overloaded with kids, more so than it already is.

We would have to figure out how to give up our kids while we starve to death.

Sadly, some people don't think or care about this. They act like those who need food stamps take a huge chunk out of their check smh!

There are families that actually do need it. If the gov. got rid of it there would be an alarming amount of stealing going on and I don't mean money. There are people that do work and even go to school and still don't make enough money to feed their family. It's really a situation of where you live and if you're stuck in a rut. So all you HATERS  out there, how would you feel if you fell on hard times and had to use them to feed your family?!

People would learn to make do with what they have on hand. People would learn that they really don't need the cell phone, the internet, the cable tv, and all the other stuff that they say they need now. People made it through the depression...people would learn to make it without the entitlement. Crime exists regrdless how the economy is running. Personally, I believe the days of pa and other entitlements are almost over with, especialy if things continue to run as they are now.

We just got off food stamps after 3 years on while my husband finished school (he was laid off and went back to school to change careers). He's now working full-time and I am a SAHM. We make $50 too much a month to get assistance. I am now struggling to feed the 6 of us on $40-50 a week and less some weeks because that's all we have after the bills and gas to get my husband to and from work. It's tough. Get rid of food stamps and you will have this on a national level. People will starve, children will starve. The death rate will increase.

It would be one thing if the system was used responsibly. I know there are a lot of people who actually need assistance, but there are also a lot who get the assistance and make it a lifestyle instead of a chance to do better.

For reasons like this, I would hate food stamps to not exist. That is heartbreaking to think of kids not being with the parents who love them:(

We are on food stamps and I am thankful.  I know how people feel about them but I am just happy ds has enough to eat.

More robberies and children starving to death. yeah the system is flawed but it would be much worse without it.
