I recently started a new bank account. I switched all my automatic payments over to my new account. Well, on the 27th, my first house payment got paid since opening the new account.
The problem is that the money didn't come out of my new account or my old account. I have waited several days and nothing has came out.
I think they charged my house payment to someone else. I emailed the bank yesterday and nothing. No response.

It doesn't really affect me. It could be hurting someone else though. I am sure they will get the money back where it goes.

I'd be nervous and wanting to find out too!
Quoting Kodysmommy928:That would make me a nervous wreck until they figured out what happened. I am sure someone will want their cash back.

I'm sure. I can't imagine a large amount missing out of my account and me not notice it.

They don't have a branch near me. It is going to have to be done over the phone.

ACH can sometimes take several days. I would contact the mortgage company and let them know so you don't get bounced check fees and a late charge, not to mention the hit on your credit.
Bank account numbers don't get reused so I'd definitely follow up on it.

Why is it unfortunate?
Quoting NDADanceMom:Unfortunately either way they are likely to figure it out.
