Start letting your child/children stay home for short periods of time alone. Example: walking home from bus stop amd using house key...hanging out at home until mom or dad gets home from work.

well my sons only 9 months so i dont have to worry about that yet but im thinking around 8th grade-freshman in high school

I'm always home, so it really never came up. At about 14, I started leaving them home while me and DH went to the mall or something.
