to those feeling suicidal...

Posted by   + Show Post

please listen to the words in this song.

I don't feel the suns comin' out today
its staying in, its gonna find another way.
As I sit here in this misery, I don't
think I'll ever see the sun from here.

And oh as I fade away,
they'll all look at me and say, and they'll say,
Hey look at him! I'll never live that way.
But that's okay
they're just afraid to change.

When you feel your life ain't worth living
you've got to stand up and
take a look around you then a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
keep on dreaming boy, cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die.

and right now i dont want to die.

And as we all play parts of tomorrow,
some ways will work and other ways we'll play.
But I know we all can't stay here forever,
so I want to write my words on the face of today.
and then they'll paint it

And oh as I fade away,
they'll all look at me and they'll say,
Hey look at him and where he is these days.
When life is hard, you have to change.

Sad its ultimately what killed him :-(

Quoting LizBradshaw:

This song isn't about suicide; Shannon Hoon wrote this song after coming down from a 3 day coke binge and finding out his girlfriend was pregnant with their daughter Nico and realizing the damaging ways of his life style. He followed it up with Car Seats (Gods Presents). Just a little Blind Melon factoid for ya :)

its really about your perspective on things, again, it can mean anything, to anyone,i never said it stops it., it doesn't help prevent, but if the right person, here's there right words in a time of utter sadness and depression, it can lift them out and save their lives. I am just sharing what has helped me, maybe it can help someone, maybe not, but at least i put it out there.

You have no idea why those kids did it or what would've saved them.

Quoting Anonymous:

if music REALLY helped prevent suicide... 5 kids in my town wouldn't have killed themselves in the last 2 months.

What may help one person may have no significance for another. Music has always been a rock for me in dark times. It all depends on the person. OP was just sharing her insight on this, no need to be snide.
