So today I had 5 collectors call me.... for my SISTER! She changed her number and moved last month. And I know why now. She didn't even tell me she put me down as a reference for these places and now collections are harassing me. I gave them all her new number and address and when they called her she told them they had the wrong number. So they called me back. Is there anything I can do? Ive already told them, I gave you the correct number and address so stop calling. And they didn't .. ugh.

If you tell them not to contact you any longer they have to comply. If they do not then threaten them with the FTC rules and that you will sue.

She probably didn't use you as a reference... That happened to me before. They just look her up and if they can't reach her they find someone who is probably related to her.

Unless you are on the bill, the collectors cannot call you. It's a rule under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act......

I just don't even answer the phone anymore if it's a number I don't recognize. It usually takes a few days of them non-stop calling my house and it's annoying as shit, but they do eventually stop. Good Luck! I know how extremely frustrating that is.
