Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

my 9 year old has been getting her period and no one knew

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post
We have one bathroom so I had to pee while my daughter was showering. I noticed her underwear had light blood stains. I asked her if she had blood in her underwear and she said sometimes. Over the past few months she's grown small breasts but she also has a bit of a tummy so I wasn't sure if it was just extra weight. She said it was underwear so she didn't talk about it. Geez! NINE YEARS OLD! She still plays with Barbies. :'(

Same with me! I was 12 when I first got mine.

Quoting nicndetsmom:

I was 15 and I ate any and everything lol. My sister was 8,ffs! My DD is 13 and started this new years day. I don't buy solely organic and I'm sure there are hormones in the meat we eat, whether it says so or not.

Quoting Anonymous:

That makes no sense! I didn't get mine until I was 12 and I ate unhealthy, I drank full fat and hormone milk with cows pumped full of antibiotics! What a world!

Quoting Anonymous:

That's why my dd consumes only organic milk and meat and doesn't use products with parabens in them. People on here love to harass people like me, but there's a reason little girls are getting their periods earlier and earlier as a whole. So I'll keep doing my part to prevent my child from going through puberty when she's too young. It's unhealthy in many ways.

How old were you when you started?

It's one thing to start when all your peers know what it is and at a more natural age, it's another thing to start when no one your age knows anything about it.

Quoting omm76002:

I don't understand why you would feel gross? Its natural! Did you parents make you think it was gross?

Quoting Baby8901:

Yea, I didn't feel like a kid at all after. I knew what it was because I have 3 older sisters but we hadn't gotten to it in school yet.

All of a sudden you start going to the bathroom a lot and kids start talking about you. :(

Quoting Aadensma:

It is! You don't feel like a kid anymore, you feel gross...at least I did. I was ten. Then my older bro found out and decided to tell his friends, so they would try talking to me about it :( I always thought I was so weird...

Quoting Baby8901:

By 9 I had c's and got my period. :-/ poor girl! It's embarrassing to get it that young!

Yeah and I have a 13 year old who didn't start developing until she was 12 and started her period shortly after. My 10 year has not started developing yet either. So just like everything else, you can find evidence to support both sides.

Honestly, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. My dd got her's last summer, she was 12. Twelve has always been about average. BTW, we don't do organic anything and I have no clue what parabens are.

I have worked in the "industry" for years and see how BIG the cuts are from the cattle, pig, chicken over the years. GROWTH hormone, and anti-biotics. I am 40, the average period was 11-12.  These girls now are 9-10 with a B-cup (minimum- most are a C cup) at 13.  F- that..... I AM a B-cup at 40 with 2 kids!!  Difference- my diet in childhood- I am thin and muscular.  DD, will be going on an organic diet!

Ugh, I hated that! lol I wore a c when I started 5th grade!

Quoting armywife009:

Same here. I was also wearing a c bra by the end of 6th grade. It sucked.

Quoting Mama_Chels:

I got my period when I was 9, but it runs in my family.

I may have read it wrong but I think someone said that over weight girls will start puberty sooner? I don't believe that, I had an eating disorder & was extremely skinny when I got mine! I sister was bigger then me & she started her's a lot later.

You didn't have this talk with her? She should have known to come to you when it started happening! Although, my 13 yr old don't tell me either, but more out of embarrassment.

About 10 1/2! No one in my school had their yet! It took a year before another girl got hers! It wasn't gross....its naural and a part of becoming a woman!
