My ODD has started cursing. Nothing major... it's just a random "damn" here or there. She admits she picked it up at school. we've talked about why foul language is bad and not appropriate for children and she understands and is always immediately remorseful when she does it. Now, it's just a bad habit we need to break.
This afternoon, she dropped the "D-bomb" completely by accident when she misspelled something on her homework. Once she was done with her homework, I had her write "I will not use foul language." 18 times (front & back primary-lined paper). ODD was all sulky about it, but did it. When she was done she told me that was the "worst punishment ever" and that it almost ruined her "WHOLE weekend!" I made note of it as effective discipline - and she could always use help with her penmanship! I laughed, she went out to play and it was done.
A bit later I told a family member about the incident, thinking it was kind of funny... apparently it isn't, AT ALL!! "It's medieval and barbaric! What are you, a nun?" She then went on to lecture me about how I should have had a discussion with a 7 year old about why she shouldn't say "damn," what it means and how hurtful it can be to others.
If writing lines is barbaric, well.... i guess you can call me Conan.
Quoting vinalex0581:really?? you think what she did was considered "heavily scolded"?
wow!
she could have done worse.....she could have beat the shit out of her daughter, i would think that would be considered heavily scolding a child. but whatever, that's the way you see it.
Quoting CFSTBSM27:
I don't think damn is appropriate but I don't think its a four letter word they should be heavily scolded for IMO but that's just me n I cuss like a sailor
Gotcha
Quoting CFSTBSM27:
