am i just a bad mom?

a few times a week, i realize that DS doesnt wash his body/hair while in the shower. oddly enough- he stinks like a wet dog when he doesnt do it!

yesterday- he didnt... today, i sent him in teh shower and if he doesnt do it again, i plan on standing in the bathroom with him, while he re-takes a shower and baby him through it- and keep doing it every day until he gets it.

at 6 years old- did your children know how to wash themselves? or did they ever go through a phase of not doing it?

at 2.5 my DD knows how to wash her self and her hair

Yup my son was ten I'd smell him and send him back to the shower.... He finally got the picture lol

I still have to get on my almost 11 year old dd.. She will get out of the shower and dry her hair and I will say geez your hair is greasy did you wash it and she says oops I forgot. Ugh wtf ..

My kids, now 6 & 7 have been showering alone for at least a year now and don't have any problems washing themselves.

If he isn't washing properly then he isn't ready to be taking a shower alone. What about him showering with daddy to show him what to do.

My six year old gets so distracted in the bath. Even if I don't let him take out the bath toys he will play with a washcloth for half an hour till I ask if he's done and he hasn't washed himself at all. I wish he would shower but he hates it with a passion.

My sister went through this at about this age. It got so bad my mom had to make sure she was getting bathed properly. No, it doesn't make you a bad mom.

My 6 yr old son doesn't wash everything and only bathes three times a week. He doesn't stink at all though and only washes his hair once a week. How does he smell like wet dog? Mine smells like nothing when he gets out of the shower! I don't get it.

let him stink, he needs to learn, he will start washing when the kids at school start calling him stinky.

My 3-1/2 year old pretty much takes a shower all by herself!
