In the ER for splinters!!!

Posted by   + Show Post
Yup we are at the ER with dd because she has splinters. She was climbing a palm tree at her grandparents last night and slid down the tree. We took her to urgent care this morning thinking they could take care of it. Nope they sent us to childrens ER for sedation. She has 30+ splinters that are all deep. I felt silly even going to urgent care ... who knew splinters could be ER worthy?!?!

Yeah splinters may seem harmless but sometimes an er visit is called for. Especially on little ones with that many. Getting one splinter out of little ones is hard but that many ouch!! I think taking her and sedating her was the right thing to do. If you hadn't she could have been much worse off.

Damn, then I'm in trouble, cuz I've had a splinter in my foot since I was like 7. Lol.

If you dont get them taken care of they can move deeper into the skin and get infected.

bandaid over the splinter....sticky side on the splinter. by morning...when you remove the bandaid the skin is soft enough that the splinter comes right out....usually on the bandaid. works every time.

Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon.

My youngest got a splinter in his foot that got infected. That was an awful ER visit.

Do you have to pull the bandaid off a certain way?
