UPDATE: HE REMEBERED WITHOUT telling him to get it. He got the hints.

If DH forgets to give me a red rose tomorrow. During our wedding we held what is known as a rose ceremony. Every year we are to place a SINGLE red rose in our designated spot for each other. it is to remind us of our love and why we got married.

this was OUR ceremony

"Your gift to each other today has been your wedding rings - which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect; and a public showing of your commitment to each other. As husband and wife, your first gift to each other will be a single rose. In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love, and a single rose always meant one thing..."I love you." So it is fitting that for your first gift - as husband and wife - it would be a single rose.

Please exchange your first gift as husband and wife. (Sometimes a special song can be played at this point).

In a way it seems like you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small rose - and now you are still holding one small rose. But in fact, just now, you both have given and received one of the most valuable and precious gifts of life - one I hope you always remember - the gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage.

_________ and _____________, I would ask that where ever you make your home in the future that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot both as a re commitment to your marriage - and a re commitment that THIS will be a marriage based upon love. In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It is easiest to hurt who we most love and it is easiest to be most hurt by who we most love. Itcan be difficult some time to words to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you"; "I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find these words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that rose than says what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and all other words. That rose says the words: "I still love you."

The other should accept this rose for the words which can not be found, and remember
the love and hope that you both share today.

__________ and ________, if there is anything you remember of today, it is that it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure."

Then I can understand you being hurt if he forgets after you've gone to the trouble of reminding him. *toes crossed*

Is it your first anniversary? If not then it should be something he does every year why would he forget? If he needs to be reminded year round or even on horrible Facebook then it obviously isn't a tradition that he took seriously and you should explain to him it's important you.

Yeah. It seems like that would be the best solution.

There are two kind of men, regarding anniversaries.  There are men who remember them, and men who NEVER do.  If your man is the kind that remembers then you have a rare find.  If you have a more standard version, which is the man who almost NEVER remembers such things, then get used to flat out reminding him of any and all dates you want him to remember.  For ever and ever, Amen.  It's not a personal snub against you by him if he forgets, it's proof that he has testosterone coursing through his veins....
