This is in my backyard and I have NO idea what put it there. Pretty much my whole yard is hard packed sand like that. We live in the middle of the Mojave desert in California. We have a 6 foot tall brick fence enclosing our whole yard so idk how an animal could get in and make this ENORMOUS hole.
I've only lived here just over a year and I came from Louisiana so I don't really know what sort of thing could've caused this. Any idea???
Quoting Sweet_Faith:Oh wow! That thing is huge! I hope your dad's ok from that fall, that must've hurt.
Quoting lovemygirls4evr:sink hole!
This was one at my mom's house that my step dad fell in and broke lots of bones with.
This is what it looked like before they pushed the top layer of dirt in, it was only about 1 ft thick. THe sink hole itself was 15ft wide and 22 ft deep.
sink hole (scary thought) or maybe some kind of animal was burrowing you'd be surprised what could probaby still find its way in , hopefully its a animal rather a sink hole. best of lunck could it jsut be sand sellting also?

My grandparents neighbor had a sink hole that collapsed their pool. I knew someone else - over half their basement gone. It was from old coal mines collapsing though.
My SO thinks it could be a fox or iguana.
I love Vinni and Alex

Check ur home owners insurance and make sure it covers sink holes. That could swallow ur house!
Quoting twinmommy27:
Do you see any tracks around it?
Quoting twinmommy27:
It could have dug up, through the ground. We had them in AZ and the hole looks similar.

I have seen big, big, huge ass turtles around before. Idk how it would get in my backyard to begin with though.
Quoting twinmommy27:
