Help! What do I tell her?

Kind of TMI-Sorry...

My daughter is 4 and likes to turn bathroom time into a spectator sport...I've always been able to hide my period from her, but not today. Now she is asking why I'm bleeding. What is a good age-appropriate way to teach her about it?

Just tell her it's a mommy thing and she needs to keep it to herself.

Oh my gosh that's always been my biggest fear!  My kids are 7 and 3 and it hasn't happened yet.  Of course I lock the door...I'm interested to read these replies because I wonder the same thing!

She said "age appropriate WAY to teach her"  not "time".  She's already asking questions.

I have one of those doorknob covers. Guess who figured out how to break it today :)

my 3 year old has asked as well. I was honest. told her it is called a period that older girls and women get once every month....and that when she is older she will have one too. Kept is very basic. she accepted that and moved on to playing.

My kid's a science junkie, though. She is fascinated by the body and how it works. I've always explained everything to her and how it works, I don't think she'd accept that answer.
