question about marriage and death.

I am going to be getting married next year and I had a question. My df was married before but his wife died of cancer. Before she died they flew to Australia so she could be with her family and she died over there, where she was from. So my question is if she died over there does he need to bring her death certificate when we sign our papers to get married? It has been 9 years.

I would believe so, but I'm not 100 %. Call the court house or go in and ask.
