pain management mamas. I have a question

Posted by   + Show Post
Tomorrow i'm having a cystoscopy done to remove a renal stent. They did not give me any instructions at my last visit. Today they called me to confirm my procedure and asked,"you haven't taken any aspirin this week right?" I explained that no one told me that..but ive been taking percocets because the pain was so unbearable. She said she had to ask the Dr but i'm wondering if anyone knows if there is aspirin in percs? I googled the active ingredients in percs but my phone is acting stupid.

Thank you. Right now the pressure and pain is terrible. my creatinine is through the roof. I have leukocytes and protein on dipstick...visible blood. I know its from the stent..I want it out.. 130 tomorrow!!! In praying there are no stones and it comes out..there were no stones visible on the CT though. Im glad he's been infection free. ill keep him in my thoughts that he remains that way.

Im glad that your right side is good. Its a horrible painful existance sometimes. DS used to get constant

Kidney infections but thankfully since he got a urinary diversion that is working well he has been infection free. Im sorry you are dealing with this and I hope you feel alot better once the stent comes out!! Big hugs to you too!! :)

Well my last nuclear scan two Weeks ago shows my left st 50 percent. My right is good. Im tech considered acute renal failure. Im so sorry for your son. I've had this my entire life and I know the pain it causes... Its worse than labor. I could never imagine having it bilaterally...im so sorry. *hugs*

Quoting T-HoneyLuv:

My DS has Severe Bilateral Hydronephrosis and Chronic Kidney Failure. He has had stents, Nephrostomy tubes, and nothing has ever gotten the dilation to go down. That is so scary about the pleural effusion!! How is your function? Do they know what caused the hydro? DS had Grade 5 Bilateral VUR and a urethral birth defect.

Quoting marinenonstop:

Yes. I have chronic hydronephrosis of the left side. when I was pregnant I had an episode so bad that caused pleura effusion up to My lungs. I was on a bipap in icu.. Scariest freaking thing. My o2 sat was only 79/80.

Quoting T-HoneyLuv:

My DS has had those. Ugh they are painful. Is it a ureteral stent?

Ugh. I will pray there are no stones!!! Ds leaks protein into his urine from his damaged kidneys and the stoma that was created gets irritated and bleeds so he always has dirty ua's. Do they know what caused this? Did you have a UPJ obstruction or VUR?

I was Born with an obstruction that was not found until I was seven. The blockagewas cut out and the ureter was just reconnected. It causes a narrowing in the ureter.

Seven?! Thats crazy!!! They found DS had a badly damaged bladder and kidneys at my twenty week anatomy scan. They didnt think he would survive though and suggested termination. :(

Hunny..growing up was terrible. I was admitted every few Weeks and no one could figure out what was wrong. They thought I had cancer..they sent me to every specialist you could think of. They even thought my mother had Munchausen syndrome. It was terrible. Plus my surgery was not invasive..nothing was back then. I have a big scar that wraps from my back all the way to my front. With two little indents where I had my bag to urinate for three months. You're so lucky to have found this out early. My mother would cry and pray for anyone to figure out what was wrong with me. I would cry and scream from the pain..vomiting and with 105-106 fevers. I went through many painful tests... The nurses in the er still know me on a first name basis. When I take my kids they like to sit and talk about my horror stories from when I was younger....I would like to forget them...some are very painful to think of.
