I dread waking my 5 year old up in the morning

Please help! My 5 year old is such a grouch in the morning that I hate waking up everyday and it ruins my day! 99% of the time it is about clothes. So in attempt to avoid a disaster, I go into her closet with her at night and have her help me pick out her outfit for the next day. I have tried earlier bedtimes. Nothing works. Every morning she wakes us crying hysterically. The shoes will hurt her feet,. she does not like the shorts/pants, the brush hurts her hair so she cries hysterically. I'm so exasperated I am starting to just let her cry and not care. She even asked this morning if I would stop being mean! (I told her to stop being a brat)  (I am definitely not a ray of sunshine in the morning, but this makes it worse!) I am usually a good Mom but patience is not one of my best qualities. Any one else have these "early morning problems?" What can I do!?

I'm sorry. I wish I had advice. Every morning I get a headache while trying to get my 6 yr old ready for school. Breakfast time is a nightmare here and I fucking hate it

Try dressing her the night before.

My 6 year old has been horrible as well... Good luck!

Try a sticker chart. And after she earns 7 stickers take her to the dollar store for a small toy. But explain the guidelines like you have to get up and dressed without whinning or crying. And use a normal tone to explain what is bothering you. Good luck..

I told my son he'd not be allowed to ever play with his DS or iPod again if he didn't stop grumbling when I woke him in the morning. It worked for me, but I'm not sure what would work for a 6 year old :( what a bummer!

Stand your ground. She is doing this to annoy you! Everytime you give in to her demand it enforces her behavior. Hell to the no. Let her be hysterical she will see very soon you won't bend...and most important...YOU are the boss not her.

She's obviously not a morning person...give the poor thing some coffee.

Jk. No idea, I have a grouch too.

One of my friends kids was like this (ds is to young to pull that crap yet lol) so she just stopped. Stopped getting her dressed, stopped doing her hair. She sent her to school in her pj's with messed up bed head and flip flops. After a couple of days of being teased she decided getting ready in the morning was not so bad. If brushing her hair "hurts" so bad offer to cut it like a boys so you wont have to brush it.
