Can you love your SO/DH without liking them?

My SO was telling me this morning how he doesn't like me but in the next sentence he told me how he loves me. We were fighting.

It got me thinking of an episode on Everybody Loves Raymond where Debra told Ray: "I love you, I don't have to like you." They were fighting.

And I'm just wondering if it's possible to love your SO/DH while fighting with them but not like them?

Is that kind of where the love/hate relationship comes in?

I love my husband but dislike what he does sometimes. Just like with kids. You love them but just sometimes...

I get that you don't stop loving them while your mad at them but do you still like them while your mad at them?

is there a difference when you're in a committed relationship?

i think it's hard to love someone if you don't like them.

I can't differentiate the two.

Yes, I love him but I don't like everything he does.

I think it's possible, there have been times I can't stand my S/O but at the same time I am loving him more than anything!

Like is fleeting.  Love is forever.

Hate is not the opposite of love.  Indifference is the opposite of love.

I don't necessarily think its that I don't like HIM, but more that I don't like his actions or choice of words. I know he's a good person and he'd do anything for us. But I always love him.

Of course. I love him, but he's an awful person. Wish I could stop loving him, but sadly that is not how the world works.

I love my husband very much. He is my heart and the heart of my children and I couldn't imagine not loving him always, but I don't like him at all. I don't like him in general on a daily basis, but it's my love for him, compassion for him, and love of my family dynamic that keeps me with him.
