I have a neighbor that is calling CPS on a family that lives in a 2 bedroom apartment. There are 11 kids and 4 adults.
They were going to call "ice" (something to do with immigration) until I pointed out that being mexican did not necessarily mean "illegal".
What I am wondering is,what will they do to this poor family???

Quoting Anonymous:OP..... I have to ask. why does your avitar picture look like it's from the sexual predator list? Maybe it's not, but it sure looks like it. Blue background. no smile. serious look on your face....... kinda creepy.
That is a driver's license picture.
That is not what the pics of sexual predators look like that I have ever seen.

Quoting beethann:do they rent or own the house?
They rent but the lady that is doing the reporting owns her apartment and she is on the board of trustees for the apartments.
She said when they were inspecting the building that there was no furniture, only beds.
it is probably against renting laws. I dunno, I would probably just mind my own business since you don't and possibly can't communicate with them. but I see no problem in telling them if you would like.
If that's the case then the CPS worker probably won't do much of anything but once the call has been made, and if you live in a mandated reporting state, CPS has to come check it out regardless. The worker will find that sort of stuff out for him or herself and then offer the family optional services, if any.

Quoting JaydeesLaydee:IMO I think it's shitty that she's calling CPS on them. BUT, I think what would happen is largely dependent upon the following:
Is there sufficient food in the home to feed all the children especially?
Are the children clean/bathed/groomed?
Are the children physically and psychologically healthy?
Are the children getting a proper education?
Are the children able to see a physician?
Do the utilities in the home work?
So long as everyone is happy, healthy and eating and clothed, CPS might not do much. They don't always take kids away...but it sounds to me like the apartment manager is annoyed at the fact that a very large family of immigrants is living on her property. It's a stereotypical, cultural thing for many of these immigrant families, especially if they are latino.
It is difficult enough to find housing for one or two kids nowadays let alone eleven...so maybe they will have a worker who is willing to help them manage resources or lack therof for this particular family. Please update when you can.
No,the kids are well cared for.The school aged ones are at the bus every morning clean and they look well fed.

technically there should only be 2 people per room..that's normally the law.
Quoting Too.Cute:I agree that being mexican does not mean being illegal. This situation does sound like it has something to do with immigration though.
I'm not sure what they will do but I hope everything works out for the best!
I don't think they are illegal. They have a new car and they just got tags.It seems that they would have to have a driver's license to get insurance and tags.

Capacity doesn't violate any laws per se, unless they live in government housing or there are foster children involved. They may be violating a renter's agreement, though.
