I was approached yesterday about my son modeling...what do you ladies think? pics
I was in the city yesterday with my son. An "agent" approached me asking if I would be interested in my son modeling...that she would find him great jobs. She told me the minimal costs (for a professional portfolio), which we can't afford. I would be able to ask for initial help with the portfolio, but I don't know if it's true or not. I, of course, think he's the most handsome little guy in the world...but I need an objective eye.

If a stranger approached me on the street like that, id probably be creeped out. If modelling is somethin you would want for your son, then do your own research first before chosing a place to take him.
I would definitely check it out first, but I want other objective opinions on whether or not they think he's "model material' before I pay for a portfolio
Did 'said' agent give you their personal info on a card?
Have you done detailed research on it first and foremost?
DO THAT FIRST.
Your son is lovely, but I wouldn't do it - esp since they ask for money up front. They aren't even guaranting the boy ANY work - but are padding their wallets with your cash you can't give up on a 'possibility'.
"We'll take some shots" - that you pay for
"We'll send out info"
"We'll see where it takes us"
Then YOU have to do a lot of the calling-to-see-if-there-is-any-work
Then your boy isn't really into the traveling to the city/wherever for shoots and he's cranky and hungry or bored or uncooperative.
You have to WORK HARD to make money in the kid-modeling business; so tread carefully and think through what it would be like to get any 'return' on your investment.
And your agent should be working hard to get work for you - not the other way around! And you shouldn't be paying them - that should also be the other way around.
It is absurd to divide people into good or bad. People are either charming or tedious.- Oscar Wilde
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that is was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible. - TE Lawrence
Your son is very cute but usually when they ask for money from you up front it is a scam, with legit modeling companies they pay you!
My kids were approached too. I told them to F off. :/
