What is the point? I mean if your a stay at home mom you can clean at nap time/quiet time or after they go to bed. You still get you time as if the house is kept up it should only take maybe 30-1 hour to tidy up.
I do all my cleaning when kids are in bed. I use quiet time for reading, watching tv or whatever else I want to do. then i have all day to play with kids. Or i clean while they are eating/playing. I dont see the point in wasting money to have someone else clean my house when im home all day.
To each there own and im not mad or anything. just would rather spend the money ON my kids and not on someone to clean my kids mess.... Plus i make my kids help clean. it teaches them responsibility and that they need to clean their own mess.
For me, it is NOT a question of spending money on the kids or not. We spend plenty on the kids, and have enough leftover to have someone clean AND we also have enough to spend on us. NOTHING is being taken away from the kids by doing this (although, I guess, hey would could buy them first class plane tickets instead of coach, right?)
For some of us, money is NOT an issue. It's time. Or it's that we hate cleaning. Or that we have a big ass house that takes forever to clean.
ok.... i said to each their own. but to me it seems everyone thinks that if they dont have a housekeeper they can not spend time with their family? i live on a farm and have 3 kids under 4. Im able to clean, cook, deal with the farm, care for the kids and still have time to rest/relax and do what i want in the day. granted my house is smaller but the farm makes up for that. I dont care if people have a housekeeper i just dont understand why its Needed. that is all. what is the need for a housekeeper? you want to spend time with kids, you want to go to events, you want to not clean but there is no need for one. sure id love a housekeeper but i would feel like a horrible wife for staying home all day and using money my husband earns to pay some random stranger to clean my house. it just makes no sence at all. we have the money for one but instead i clean my own house and im able to do more with the kids, help out family and friends with money or things they need, or just blow it on something. Id much rather clean my house and blow my money on something else then pay someone to clean my house and take away from fun stuff.
it seems this post was made more to bash those who disagree with it... kinda sad people on CM really have no lives they have to do that. Fire your housekeeper get off line since its taking time away from your children and clean your house!
seems to me THAT is why people get housekeepers. so they can put their kids in bed and sit on CM
Ha! I have two teenagers here and they're both still asleep at 11:30 am. I have time to be on here, my house is clean.
Honestly, when we first started gettig the house cleaned, I volunteered a good 50 hours a week (some in the home, some out of it). I had 3 kids under the age of 7 (2 not in school yet). I had a surly teenager (surly because we moved him 1000 miles away when he was 13). We had 5 cats and a dog (and a bunny, but hey, he was not a problem). I made most of my kids clothes, and cooked ALL THE TIME. My husband was working insane hours - sometimes I didn't even see him.
When he DID get a day off, I didn't want to spend any of it cleaning. We wanted to go do something. Something fun.
One thing money CAN be is time - because those things you don't want to do - you can almost always find someone to do it for you. I have more TIME to do what I want to do. My husband and I both decided that having a housekeeper come in (or cleaning service, technically) was cheaper than marriage counseling or a divorce lawyer. We like our house spotless, and completely uncluttered. Even when the kids were little, there were rooms where toys were off limits. I'm annoyed right now because there is a backpack in the living room!
Mine really doesn't have that much to do with the kids, I am working on writing my dissertation for my Ph.d. You never know someones reasons for having a housekeeper so people shouldn't get mad. I always cleaned my own house until I started working on this. It takes up a huge amount of my time and I need as much free time as I can get to work on it when the kids aren't around. When they are around I need to be doing stuff related to them. I just don't understand why it is such a big deal to people.

I have one - she comes every friday to vacuum/mop all the floors and clean the bathrooms. Saves me several hours a week to be able to spend time with my kids.
Haters gonna hate.
