Because they realize that they don't want to put up with his bullshit.  It's all well and good until the divorce decree is signed off on by the judge.  Then the illicit and fun wears off and they know what they ended up with.

Because it matters. If I knew there was competition for my guy, I would know how serious about him I really needed to be at that point.

If there is an ex-wife at home hoping he will call, I better not be thinking of him as a "hook-up". KWIM?
