So, my nurse was wheeling me around earlier because I was going stir crazy. We were joking about how small the rooms are, the rehab wing is in the original part of the hospital so its quite a bit older and could use some lovin, especially compared to where I was transferred from. She was showing me the different parts of the wing, and told me I got one of the biggest rooms, I jokingly said "haha how did I get so lucky"
Well, she said "because you have great insurance of course" and then went on to explain that there was even a "medicaid" section, smaller rooms, older couches trays etc. And that is where the medicaid patients all go :(
Honestly, I think its kinda sad that just because someone has medicaid they are purposely put in a shittier area. And because someone else has "good" insurance they get a bigger, better room.

You would think medicaid would get the best rooms since it gets paid all at once. People with private insurance can drag it out or send to collections.

It's because Medicaid pays providers less than private insurance does.

It's definitely not that way at any of the hospitals near me.

You get what you pay for. *shrug* I would be thankful for a small shitty room, if I was in desperate need and had Medicaid.
