Its ridiculous that in a FREE COUNTRY I have to LIE. I wish my state had philosophical vaccine exemptions, but they don't. So i'm forced to claim religious. Whatever. Its illegal for them to question and deny me.
Anyways. I felt stupid at the ped today. He respects my choice, but out of curiosity asked why. After my last experience of being honest, I decided to say "its against our religion"... Ha
Then he asks me what religion. I must have looked like a deer in the headlights. I blurted out Baptist. He said he didn't realized Baptist believed that way, so I had to think quick and I said it was just our interpretation of things. Luckily he left it at that.
I hate lying. I'm NOT good at it. Lol

And yes, i'm posting anon because I don't need my inbox flooded with stupidity.

Thanks for the laughs ladies!! I just LOVE the conclusions everyone jumps to. No where did I say I don't vax because of autism or Jenny McCarthy. ROFL.
You call me uneducated and tell me I should do research, but you have no idea what led me to the decision to not vaccinate my children. Do you enjoy name calling? Does it make you feel good about yourself?

About my OP, it has been brought to my attention that I am not in fact lying to get my exemption. Vaccinations go against my beliefs.
I did, however, choose to lie to the pediatrician. Yep, you got me there. God, i'm horrible. Either way, i'm not vaccinating and he wouldn't have been able to change my mind. AFTER I stated my lie, is when he said he respected my choice. Hallelujah!!
The last pediatrician I went to, I WAS honest with and I got a lecture and talked down to like an uninformed child. I was attempting to avoid that situation, and instead but myself in another awkward position. Lol. OOPS.

The decision not to vax my children was not made lightly. I spent Alot of time soul searching and informing myself. This is the best decision FOR MY FAMILY.
I'm not spewing "antivaccine propaganda" nor trying to convince anyone to live the way I do. I was sharing my funny story.

So, to those of you who wish to continue bashing me, carry on. This ol girl feels 100% confident in her choice, and your just making yourselves look foolish!! =)

I vax, but you're right, that is ridiculous! In our state it is required before they can start school! I moved here from TN wehre it was not required, we just had to sign a release saying the school was not liable if any illness was contracted if there was a vaccine available for it. Here though you HAVE to have vaccine records before they start Kindergarten. I was getting DS 1 year vaccinations and another nurse came in complaining about a mom who was refusing to vax, and the nurse doing DS vax told her to call mom back and tell her that she gets vaxed or she doesn't go to school period! This made me furious, it should be the parent's right to choose what is best for their family. When she asked for his blue vax card, we told her he didn't have one because the state we moved from vax wasn't required, it was optional and she looked at me like I had 3 heads, then asked why. I told her because not all people believe in vaccinations. Some of them I understand, there are diseases that I would not want my child to get such as polio, But chicken pox? really...until recently, that was a normal part of childhood!

An unvaccinated child is a threat to a vaccinated child. Vaccines are not 100% effective so a child who has received proper medical care can still get sick from a child who hasn't. There are also the kids who aren't vaccinated to legitimate reasons like their age or allergies. Herd immunity is to protect the kids who can't be vaccinated, not the kids whose parents like to read conspiracy theories on the Internet.

Well... not to be mean or anything... but if you are Athiest, you don't believe in God/Heaven right? So if athiests don't believe in either of those.. then they don't believe in the Devil/Hell.

Quoting Anonymous:

You should have said "We are athiest, and I dont want the devil vaccine to consume my child."

that would have made him ask no questions. lol!

You don't have to lie, you choose to lie. You could choose to protect your child from deadly diseases instead of lying.

I completely agree with this! They are saying the whooping cough "epidemic" is because so many kids aren't vaxed.

Quoting Not_A_Native:

Personally, I don't think there should be religious exemptions.  You don't want to vaccinate, fine - send your kid to private school or homeschool him/her.

And since they DO allow religous exemptions, I'd say they should have to be signed by a religious leader.

That would be unconstitutional. You have the freedom to practice your religion as you see fit.

Also, FAPE allows for all children to be given free, appropriate education.

In essence, your thinking goes against the American core.

Funny how most of the kids getting sick are vaccinated for it, huh?

Ironically I filled out a religious vax exemption for my son to start at religious private school.LOL I just stated " I feel very strongly that vaccinating is not beneficial at this time due to past reaction" they never questioned.
