That's ridiculous when the purpose is served just as well by bringing them close enough to feel the heat and teling them it's "HOT" and not to touch.

I wont let them burn themselves, but if they dont listen and burn themselves, then thats what they get.

Nah, don't need to go that far. Hold their hand and bring it close enough to feel the heat but not burn. Make it clear that the closer you go the hotter it gets.

Yes, indeed I did. No apologies.

Also no gates and locks necessary to keep the kids away from the wood burning stove. They all touched it exactly once.

I did supervise their first burn though. LOL that sentence sounds stupid as hell.

Uuuuhhhhh.....thinking....thinking....thinking.....uuuuhhhh... that's a no. I just tell her "it's hot, don't touch". She gets it without the need ot any permanent mental or physical scars or trips to the ER.

Never. I warn them that the stove is hot every time we are in the kitchen. They are old enough to know, so they always just roll their eyes at me when I say it, like I'm not a baby lol, but I still say it.

This. I told my dd to get back cause the stove was hot she still went near it and burned herself yep she won't go near one
