I hate my cat

Ok, I don't hate him, but my husband strongly dislikes him. I have one cat who is AWESOME. I went back to the shelter to adopt his brother, feeling sorry for him, and was shocked when I brought home Devil Cat. Personally I love him, because I love cats and I realize he is just behaving like any shy kitty in an unfamiliar situation (he was 8 when we adopted him). Unfortunately, DH, who was raised to hate cats, hates him and is bitten and/or scratched on a daily basis because he can't understand how to leave the poor cat alone. What do I do? No matter how much I tell him to, DH will NOT just leave him alone. The cat does NOT bother DS and I adore him. Why can't my husband just leave him alone?

I highly dislike cats, so there's no way my SO would bring one here, and I wouldn't get a pet he doesn't like.

LMAO. There's an idea. This cat is just the quintessential cat. He will be petted on HIS terms and ONLY on his terms. Our other cat thinks he's a dog, which I love, but it makes the cat cat look even more evil.

Sounds like your husband is the problem, not the cat. Why is he even bothering the cat if he doesn't like cats? I don't like cats either, so I tend to ignore them when we have had them before, unless they need to be in trouble.

He IS the problem.  The cat is just being a...well, cat.  He won't leave him alone bcause he "won't have an animal in the house that won't tolerate him."  MY issue is that the cat DOES leave him alone when he doesn't bother the cat.  I got pissed last night when he was shooting at the cat with the NERF gun.  I was like, "I KNOW you're not shooting him with a NERF gun."  He said, "It was better than punching him."  I said, "Did you bother him again?"  He said, "Yes, I won't have a pet I can't rub."  I said, "He's an 8 year old cat.  LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!! There IS a cat in this house you can rub.  Leave THAT one alone!"

Yup.  Moe goes out with the dogs, responds to him name, comes in when called.  He's a total "catdog."  LOL  Zorro, on the other hand, though Moe's littermate, is a total CAT'S cat.  He won't be rubbed unless he CHOOSES so.  He doesn't care for DH and DH just needs to get OVER it.  Moe LOVES him enough for BOTH cats so he just needs to be ok with it.  On top of 2 dogs who love him, it should NOT be an issue.
