If I suggested naming our son after one of our pets, my husband would have looked at me like I lost my mind... then again, our pet names hae included Tigger, Bambi, Shotgun, Yogi, Salem, Gypsy, Pandora, Selune... to name a few.
Well I have had a Hammie, Rosie, Thomas and Smokey.
None of those would work lol.
I had a dog named Alex growing up but naming my son Alexander and calling him Alex has nothing to do with the dog I had... I just liked the name Alexander LOL
The crocodile hunter did this with his daughter.
I'd consider it as a middle name most likely not the first name though
How did she stop you from trying to kill yourself?
Quoting ICPclwnLOV:I had a dog that was very special to me from 3rd grade until she passed away when I was 22. I refused to move out of my parents house without her. I even went to community college because I couldn't be away from her. She got me through a lot of shit. She literally stopped me from trying to kill myself once. Her name was Chelsea and I still miss her terribly 5 years later. My 2 kids are adopted and already came to me with their names. My next DD is going to be named Madeline Chelsea after my sweet pup.
My best friend's Son/Grandson (she adopted him after daughter died) was named after a German Shepherd they had when her kids were little.
One of my dogs is named after my Dad but if I ever have any more kids and it is a boy I plan to use one of the names (Dog's name is T.C, Tabor Calvin)
I think it's fine, provided the animal has a name that works for a human being too! Giving Rocco as a name works fine... giving Spot as a name might not!
