I will not make her eat ketchup.

Posted by   + Show Post
My 6 year old DD is not a picky eater. She loves oysters, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, cottage cheese.

BUT- she Hates katchup!!

She will not touch anything that has ketchup on it. Burgers included.

My husband and I are on a trip to see his family and he stopped to get himself and DS something to eat. I fed DD and DS at home an hour ago, but he didn't like what I fixed so he didn't eat. DS is a bottomless pit so he is getting him some fries. When DD heard where DH was stopping she asked for a burger. DH says ok. I tell him to make sure it is just mayo and mustard.

He got mad at me! He said I am the reason she is picky and I should make her eat the burger the way it comes.

Am I wrong? Should I make her eat ketchup? She hates it.

Sorry ladies! I didn't realize I was spelling it wrong. Long day in the sun lol.

Ketchup?

It's not a big deal, not everyone likes everything.. People are allowed to have dislikes.

My kids would eat ranch with everything if I let them. I know it's not the best, but I usually give them less than a tablespoon for dipping.

We have been trying to eat healthier too. So I am fine without her eating it!

She has starte requesting ranch more though. But that's low fat and home made so I don't mind so much!

Ketchup is full of sugar, I wouldn't force my kids to eat it either.

I don't want to spell it right!

Lol, no I don't know what I was thinking spelling it that way!

I am not going to, I don't see it as big of a deal.

Quoting Luv.My.Kidz:

Well for one it's Ketchup not KATchup.... so learn how to spell!

Second of all if she doesn't like it, don't make her.

Having her burger dry (no mayo; mustard or ketchup) is better.

I don't believe in making kids eat food they don't like.

Wait, so the entire reason you stopped was because DH was PICKY and didn't eat what you made?  And then he says it's YOUR fault your DD is picky?  Hmmmm.... Somebody needs to check their logic on that one!  LOL!

As for the ketchup, no, I would most certainly not make her eat it.  Better a tomato than a pile of ketchup (I don't like it either)!

She has eaten it before, she just doesn't like it now.

I am not going to force it.

If DH doesn't like it he can watch the food go to waste.

Quoting FranciRed:

Oh good gracious. The world won't spontaneously combust if she hates the red stuff. I wouldn't force her. She can try it when she's ready.

Ketcup is nasty. No reason to force her to eat it.

What's wrong with mustard? It has no fat, no sugar, no calories.

No, why would you make her eat something that unhealthy?  My dd has always hated mayonaise.  She's 19 and still hates it.  Better for her, I say.  Also, if you make a big deal out of it and try to force her to eat, she won't eat the burger either.  Kids are funny that way.
