I see the accusations all the time on here and I don't even know anyone of all the races I know, with a crazy name. So do you?

Your name might be. It doesn't mean that you are.

Because ironically enough, my thought process doesn't explode all at once. I have random thoughts at random times and if I were to put all of my thoughts into one reply it would annoy the fuck out of everyone because it would be so long. Why should I have to clarify to please all who read it? I'm pretty sure people don't come on here and type their responses to please me. If people would take the time to actually read it with a more open mind they would see I wasn't being purposely prejudiced. We were talking about unique names. NOT every day names. I just used some of the plane white names as an example of what I see my own race USUALLY named (as examples).

Quoting WanziesMommie:

BUT at the same time, if you felt the need to back yourself up..maybe you should have said that you find them "refreshing"  and not wait til you're in some sort of debate! IJS

Quoting Anonymous:

Sorry, but isn't referring to it as "ghetto" just as presumptiously prejudiced as well?

Listen, I didn't mean to start an all out war. This is just my experience. In my life, I have met more black people with unusual, unique names (Which is NOT A BAD THING!!! I find it refreshing compared to the boring, repetitive names). I just hate how everyone on this website is so black and white. No one sees anything in between. Someone's gotta either be racist, or not. Sexist or not. Right or wrong.

Quoting AdellesMom:

There's no such thing as "white names." That's such an ignorant comment. I know white people with "ghetto" names.

Besides, those names would be considered "ghetto," not "black names." Most black people don't have "ghetto" names, IMO. At least, most of the black people in my life don't have "ghetto" names. I only know a handful of black people with "ghetto" names.

Quoting Anonymous:

How so?

I am being honest. There's a reason I said "usually". I'm sorry but I grew up in a very multiculural neighbourhood and from my experiences, not too many black people had white names, and vice versa. Sure there are exceptions. And all races can have unusual names. But for the most part, come on...you can't say that it isn't true.

Quoting AdellesMom:

Racist? Maybe not.

Ignorant as hell? Definitely.

Names like: Apple,  Moonbeam, and any day or month.....

or regular run of the mills names like: Jane, Joe, Bill, Jan....are usually white. lol.

Names that end in "qua" or "ka" or "sha" like: Sheniqua, Nikeisha, Wytisha.....

or "quan" like: Shequan, Daequon....

are usually black.

You all know it. Not racist one bit. But Just watch Maury. Maury has all of the strangest names around on his show.

No. Anyone can be ghetto. Those "traits" aren't exclusive to blacks like people try to make them out to be.

Well like I said, That's apart of your problem!  And NO I NEVER assumed you were racist, calm down a bit!!!   Sounds like you're so concerned about being jumped on here, state your fact or opinion and move on, you don't have to clear up or prove anything.........but what you do have to do is NOT assume!

And if you think you need to check in, then yes do so LOL! BTW, freedom of speech has nothing to do with this.....MOVE ON!

Quoting Anonymous:

Problem? I fail to see the problem. OP asked if it was only "black people" who have unique names. I gave examples of both black and white with unique names...and added the word USUALLY to clarify that I was not meaning ALL of them as a whole.

YOU assumed I was being racist...before I assumed people would take me as one. Even if I had not mentioned that sentence or saying it wasn't...people would still jump on me. I am well aware of that.

I am also ALLOWED to add the extras. Free speech. If I didn't, it would be an answer the same as everyone else. I prefer to explain my thoughts thoroughly. Is that okay with you? Should I check in nect time to make sure it is before I post to avoid being cornered?

Quoting Anonymous:

Well that's apart of your problem, you can't always assume! You may be wrong.  I wouldn't think you are, but ADDING what you chose to add makes it appear that you are.  You're already defending yourself, way too soon WOW!!   And yes OP asked a question, and you CHOSE to add the extras!

Quoting Anonymous:

No...because I knew how people would assume I was by what I was saying.

I am just noting what I have experienced and seen. You don't have to agree with it. OP asked a question. I responded.

Quoting Anonymous:

Why when people discuss race or something regarding race they always feel the need to add "not being racist" or "not racist one bit", WOW must you add that!!! You must be if you have to prove yourself, and if you are racist SO WHAT

I agree. "Ghetto" shouldn't have even been a part of this conversation. We were talking "unique" not class.

Quoting talktojonell:

Not to interrupt, but imo a lot of the black white ghetto debate on cm is not about race. It's about class. Things that occur frequently in the lower class get pushed towards Black. Things that occur frequently in the middle class get pushed towards White.

There are always exceptions, but in general the class indicators hold true more often than the racial ones.

An example would be saying Poor people are ghetto. This is much more likely to hold true than saying Black people are ghetto. The Black middle class is pretty much the same as the White middle class imo.

I'm not mad.

Not at all.

And sure it does. Freedom of speech has everything to do with this. You're about the third person telling me how wrong I am for saying what I say and complaining about it. And now you're telling me to move on. Funny...I don't recall having to take directions from anyone but me.

Sure. I assumed. So does pretty much everyone on here. If they didn't, this place would be boring and uneventful.

All the black people I've ever met

Ebony

Shannana

Rashawn (male)

Latoya

Kieesha

margeritta

mersadies

and thats it. There arn't very many blacks in my town. In fact if you look at the city statisics it's 98%white,1.3 % black, and the rest is classified as 'other'.

I've never met a white person with any of those names and I'm 28.
