So my ods is getting ready to turn 2 in couple weeks and I have started planning and getting all the goodies for it.. But I am getting a lot of attitude from other moms and friends saying, "why throw a party, they won't remember it." To me this is very sad. No, they won't remember their 2 birthday, or their first Christmas ir anything this young but there as sure as shit be pictures!! I know I don't have to have a party to celebrate but that's not my point. Kids will not remember going to the park or going down a slide for the first time on their but we all still do it and enjoy every minute... I guess this turned more into a vent, but I had to get it off my chest because I don't care if my child will remember or not...he is going to get a life full of different experiences!!

I just can't believe that people think this way. If you don't want to have a party or do whatever...then that is fine but don't blame your child, saying they won't remember.

We don't do big parties for the first few years. We do do special dinners and I do make a cake. But I just didn't see the need for a big birthday party for the first three years. Now that my son is turning four this year if we know enough kids I think we will do a party

I'm so looking forward to my son's first B-day.

Who cares if they remember it or not. You will and you'll have some wonderful memories. Ignore those idiots.

People have said the same of some of the trips we've taken ours on. *I* remember, and those are some of my best memories.

Yes! We took ods to Disneyland for his 2nd birthday and he was able to ride everything except for about 4 rides, he won't remember it but he sure enjoyed the day and the parade and dh and I will NEVER forget it!

I can kind of see their point. we don't do big bday parties the 1st couple of years either just cuz of that. they won't remember and we feel its just a waste of money. we do celebrate bdays tho. we have small party/get together at home. just dinner and cake and ice cream. we like to keep the parties small when they that little. we waiting to have big bday parties when they are older when they can help plan and put it together with what they want to do. thats what our parents did with us growing up and it worked out just fine. we still celebrated and we still had pics and all that.
