dating a man that's been hurt and thinks women are after what he has to offer as far as security?

He's a Captain in the Marine Corp, about to be picked up for Major.. His ex wife did him dirty and used him for money. Now he's gun shy, I said I might not want to get married again, just engaged and live with the guy. He said he feels the same. I was thinking about it, and I might want to be married again. How do you date a man like this? We get along great and he says I'm different meaning he likes my openness and independence.

give it time because he has trust issues and be honest if you might want to get married again before you invest time with a guy who may never be ready for that. Also since he is military he can get counseling and it sounds like he could use it

I'd say just give it time. I was like that. For 2 years I told my guy I'd never remarry, have joint accounts, joint property, etc. after a while I changed my mind and we're getting married in November. Especially with him being military he might decide the benefits outweigh the risks. You could also suggest a prenup
