And I need some ideas to make it last until then. I usually have extra leftover by the time the next month rolls around but we splurged and had a barbecue and invited some friends over. Please give me some tips, ideas on stretching what I have left.
Sorry but I refuse to shop at Aldis or eat beans and rice even once a month. For the record, my husband has a job. It's not a high paying job but he took what he could get. I am babysitting for money myself so shut it.
So my parents gave me $100 to add onto the $200 I had on my fs card so I bought groceries at Kroger this morning so we have plenty of food now until next month.
And Aldi's carries some awesome stuff including all those fresh fruits and veggies everybody always bitches they can't afford.
Quoting cupomeow:Haha. You refuse to shop at Aldi's or eat beans and rice? I never know that there were people on food stamps that were snobs. See, I do shop at Aldi's because I am too 'rich' for food stamps. So I'm not sure I can help you.
MMMM I love red beans and rice. I have at least one week a month where food is tight. I am still learning to budget and trying to find way to shop cheaper with out my children losing out on nutrition so that is why I am a bit low at the end of the month. We end up having some extra can goods and I will mix and match them and just make up my own recipes with what I have left. I have not had one complaint about what I make either. Sometimes my DF and I will only eat baked potatoes when we are really bad off so that our children have what they need. You learn to make sacrifices even if they are not what you would ideally do so that your children don't do without. Get off the high horse about not eating rice and beans its not that bad you can even add in some hamburger meat (or turkey meat) and it stretches and fills everyone up.
