what are your pet peeves when you are out at a restraunt?

mine are

if i ask for a dr pepper, and they said they don't have it if i would like a root beer or not, no thanks, they don't taste the same. but thanks.

we sit down right away, and you come over to take our drink orders and ask us if we are all ready to order our food, no, we just sat down, let us look at the  damn menu.

when we just get our food, and they ask us how it is, well IDK, let me take a damn bite of it.

they don't talk to addison and ask what she wants, i like my waiter/waitess to talk to her, i know they care.

they don't come back and check if everything is okay.

when you are paying cash and ask if i need change

From a waitress-

if i ask for a dr pepper, and they said they don't have it if i would like a root beer or not, no thanks, they don't taste the same. but thanks.- no, they dont taste the same, but they are close enough that some might like it as an alternative, so we offer the option. Just like if someone asks for pepsi and we dont have it, we have coke, I will say "we dont have that, would you like a coke"  because while they aren't the same, they are both in the cola category.

we sit down right away, and you come over to take our drink orders and ask us if we are all ready to order our food, no, we just sat down, let us look at the  damn menu.- Many know what they want right as they are coming in, we have a menu posted at the front, so we always check rather then just walk away, because often they know what they want.

when we just get our food, and they ask us how it is, well IDK, let me take a damn bite of it.- they are just being friendly

they don't talk to addison and ask what she wants, i like my waiter/waitess to talk to her, i know they care.- I've seen pictures of your daughter on here and she cant be more then 5 or 6, we are told not to ask for the order of anyone under 10 because 9 times out of 10 the child is either too shy to answer or they order chocolate cake for breakfast and the parent has to correct them, we assume that every small child has run an order by their parents before I take their order, so the parents will always be able to give a surefire answer on what their child will have, so we save everyone the time and effort and just ask the parents.

they don't come back and check if everything is okay.- we have a lot of tables to take care of

when you are paying cash and ask if i need change- this is the one thing that I agree on, we dont do that, we always give change and they can leave whatever tip they want

don't you just slap her if she talks during dinner?

It still is sitting near families with kids for me!  Mine are older now, but even when they were young, I much preferred to go to restaurants without them.

And now, no, I DON'T think your kid is cute when she looks over the booth and says "Hi!" 15 times.  Or when she loudly says she needs to go potty NOW.  Or when your two kids are singing.  I just don't.  Which is why I tend to avoid those restaurants that have lots of kids, and/or cater to kids.

ugh i hate that...i'll ask to sit where there are no tables behind us, because i know addison will get up and turn around, so if we sit at a booth or table that is against the wall, she c an't talk to anyone. or i'll ask to sit beside the windows, or by the restrooms.

i always waarn her before we go inside, that she needs to use inside voices and that if she needs to pee, she needs to quietly ask if she can go to the bathroom.

my husband will drink his soda within minutes, and if he has to ask for a new one, the person doesn't get a tip.

My own?

The plate not arranged nicely.  Come on, it's a restaurant.

When they don't come back to ask if you want more drinks.

When they don't bring water.

When they get the order wrong.

If the seating area is not clean, INCLUDING the floor under the table.

Honestly, I'd never expect a server to talk to my kid.  They're KIDS. Under the age of about 7 or so, I always ordered for them.  After that, I expected them to order properly themselves.  Not everyone likes kids, lol.

Kids in a restaurant don't bother me, because I waited tables for years in a family restaurant as a teenager. I still only go to family restaurants because I bring my kids and we go during "early bird" hours because the elderly actually do enjoy well behaved children in a restaurant.

My pet peeves, are girls who only talk to my DH when taking orders and refilling drinks. Only refilling DH's drinks. That's just annoying and affects their tip BIG TIME.

Seeing people pop their kid in the mouth at dinner. So in other words sitting next to someone like you at dinner.

Little kids running around causing havoc. I hate that, put your kids on a leash.
