It is 12:30am here. It is 96 degrees still in my apt. My children are in their underwear trying to sleep they are drinched in sweat. I can't sleep. It's too hot. Can I force my landlord to put a window unit in? It can't be legal to make us live like this?

I don't know, if you knew there was no a/c when you moved in, I don't think you can do anything.

Nope. If it's not stated in your lease/rental agreement that ac is provided you must provide your own if you want it.

Check your landlord/tenant laws, but probably not if you rented the apartment without a/c. Just save up for a cheap window unit.

If there was one there and it is no longer working, yes you can. If it was not there it is your respnsibility. Also check your lease as to what they provide.

I wasn't sure if I could buy one myself. I guess if it isn't forbidden in the lease I could?

Id find somewhere else to stay or buy one myself, I could never let my child suffer like that.

No, that's your responsibility.
