My son (almost 3) somehow injured his foot yesterday - they were playing in the bounce house (it has a slide to exit) - my son kind of fell down the slide and immediately starting freaking out. I thought he twisted his leg or foot or something as he was crying very hard and saying "my toe" - we looked at his big toe and it looked okay, no swelling or bruising. I looked at the bottom of his foot and up by his big toe, there is a brownish / black spot. I thought at first it was a splinter (not sure how he could have gotten one as they were on the grass playing). We gave him some ice and motrin and he fell asleep. this morning he cannot walk on that foot, he cries for me to hold him. When I touch that spot on the bottom of his foot he freaks so I have been unable to see if it is a splinter or what
what would be your next step? I plan to take him to the ped this afternoon if he is still having trouble walking.
would this be possible without any bruising or swelling? I hope the doctor can figure it out
thanks

Thanks, I looked online and it sounds like he may have "turf toe" which is a sprain right under the big toe, which is where his pain is coming from
my poor little man, I will update more later after the doctor
thanks

From what I was told by my sm who was an RN that sprains and pulled muscles swell. Usually if it's broke it doesn't. But I am not a Dr I just remember her telling me this.
