Helped a mom today... and now I feel terrible
- 27 Replies
I went to Walmart today on my lunch break to get some more prenatal vitamins and sitting outside the door was a young mother with a little girl (around 1 year old) sitting outside. She was holding a sign asking for help. I felt really bad for her, as it's 90 degrees and humid as hell outside. With not much $ myself (literally, I had $45 to my name), I picked up my prenatals and bought 8 things of baby food (both fruits and veggies), some lunch meat and a loaf of bread for the mother outside. I handed her the bag with the food in it and she thanked me several times. But, here's the thing... they were sitting out there and (what I'm guessing) is somebody handed them a couple of peaches. The baby was sitting there gnawing on it and then I regretting getting the things I did. Obviously that little girl is able to eat table food and I bought her baby food :( It's been so long since I've had a wee little one and forgot that Gerber makes toddler food. I'm hoping that if she can't eat the baby food then she can snack on the bread or sandwich meat.
I think its great you helped op and Im sure the mom is too

She can eat the baby food. If I had a hungry child and somebody gave me baby food, i'd give it to her rather than watch her go hungry. It's ok, you did a good thing.
She can return the baby food. Even if there is no receipt they will give her store credit to get something else.
You did a good thing! Don't feel bad.
