50 Shades of Grey trilogy vs. Sleeping Beauty trilogy?
I know everyone is tired of hearing about the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy...but...I read it even after reading ALL of the horrible reviews because a friend insisted it was awesome. I actually liked the first and second book. I thought the third was eh and I skipped most of the sex scenes because they just got repetitive. That's not the point, though....
Has anyone read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy: The Claiming of Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, and Beauty's Release? I was reading Amazon reviews and they said that people who loved 50 Shades will love this trilogy. Any reviews?
I'm going anon because I'm embarrassed that I liked such drivel.
Sleeping Beauty is for adults to read, 50 Shades is for starting a fire in the fireplace...or evening out that wobbly table.
I read The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy years ago. My mom actually gave it to me as a gift one year for Christmas. I LOVED IT!! I read all 3 books in under a week. I couldn't put them down!!
With 50 Shades, I'm not reading them nearly as quickly.
The first 2 were alright, the third is getting to be boring...
Quoting Bigmetalchicken:I have read both trilogies. The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy is amazing. It is grassfed kobe beef, to 50 shade's pink sludge.
I read the Sleeping beauty Trilogy once a year. I have bought the set several times, because when I lend my copies out, they never get returned. It is a beautiful story of sexual awakening, and fantasy. It is beautifully written, and you end up feeling as if you understand and KNOW the characters. No matter how many times I read it, i still tear up with joy when Beauty finds her true king.
Fifty shades is cage liner compared to Sleeping Beauty.
ETA: I just read someone else's comment, and it says that the books are about Beauty being raped. that is not true. There IS a lot of homosexuality in the books, which may be a turn off for some. But their is no rape.
