Hug or kiss you or relatives. Thier body is actually theirs, not yours. It doesn't belong to parents, preschool teacher, dance teacher or soccer coach. While children must treat people with respect, they shouldn't have to offer physical affection to please them. And the earlier your child learns ownership of herself or himself and responsibility for their body, the better for them. Food for thought.

I don't.

I don't like for people to touch me.....no way would I force them to do it. My youngest will offer a fist bump instead of a hug most of the time.

do you kiss your infants? cause technically they cant tell you whether or not they want you to! so you are forcing them! I don't make my daughter kiss people now, but when she was a baby and someone in our family wanted some baby kisses i let them. and I sure wasn't going to go without kissing my child!

Some parents for example will "force" their kids to give hugs or kisses to grandparents or visiting relatives. You tell them when you greet them you have to give them a say hug even if they don't feel like it. Not everyone does.
