At what age do toddlers typically start talking well?

I just picked up my son (2) from his first day of daycare.
His teacher was so surprised that he "could already talk in full sentences". I thought that was pretty typical....?

Most books and other resources say 3. My little one is doing the same though, it depends on the child.

Eh, mine is 3.5 and still jumbles some words. She understands everything and I understand her 99% of the time. She didn't start talking until after two though. Some kids catch on faster than others.

My oldest is special needs and didn't talk until after his 3rd birthday. My middle child started talking very early and still never stops. My youngest is 17 months and can only say 5 words. So my kids all talked at different times so I don't know what is a typical age for them to start talking.

My son is 19 months and only says a handful of words and not together. I think it just depends on the child. Mine spent his first few months extremely ill so my pedi has informed me that it wouldn't be out of the norm if he is delayed in some things but that it wasn't anything to worry about. He didn't sit up unsupported until he was 7 months, didn't walk until a year, and now is still waiting to talk. My family also is notorious for producing stubborn kids lol my mom says I didn't talk until after I was two and then one day I just popped out a whole sentence!

Having passed this milestone 4x I have to say each child is different. People parent differently. Too too many variables. Apples and Oranges AND Bananas!

My mildly autistic sister said her first word at age 7.
I was just a hair over 5 months.
Same parents. Same environment.
Kids are all different. The general consensus though is between 20mos and 36mos
