My DD is 5 and I noticed she has a waist. Is that normal?

She may also have legs, arms, and a head.

Don't let it freak you out.

Yes, my daughter's hipbones stick out a little and it goes in at her waist and she's a normal weight and height.

My niece is the same way and she is 7. She has like an hourglass figure minus the boobies. It's pretty funny. My daughter and her are 7 weeks apart, and my daughter is straight as a board, and her cousin already has a set of hips on her! But in my opinion she has my sisters exact body shape.

she might be getting ready to hit a growth spurt... but if you notice she is gaining weight or her waist is getting bigger, than consider changing her diet and proportioning out her meals! Also, get her involved in sports, make her more active!

Sometimes, though, kids just gain weight, and there is little we can do to prevent it or stop it.

It's normal for kids to have waists.
