So your dog has a single instance of hyperness and gets excited over some food and knocks over your 2 year old. Said 2 year old has a minor, non-life threatening injury and the best option is to get rid of the dog? Gotcha. It's nice to know there are so many loyal pet owners out there. Accidents happen and kids get hurt. If we got rid of an animal every time it accidentally hurt DD, we'd never have animals.

If it meant a better chance of keeping my kid with me, yeah I would get rid of the dog..CPS was called! The dog would be gone. I take being a parent much more serious than being a good pet owner.

In her case is put the dog down , the dog is sick anyways... Cancer if I remember.

IKR?

There should be a test to pass for pet ownership AND parenting.

Just because the dog has cancer doesn't mean the dog is suffering. He is on medication and should be able to live as long as he is comfortable. The 3 dogs that we have had to put down ended up with cancer(runs in the breed) and we didn't put them down until they were truly suffering(except for Jake...his was already way too bad). Just because they get a cancer diagnosis doesn't mean it's automatically time to snuff them off.

and CPS was called because of the type of injury...not because of the dog. a good pet owner would be getting the dog training to teach him/her to not jump like that. a good pet owner does not just give up their dog over something like that.

Uh to keep CPS out of my life and keep my kid at home? you betcha! I bet you are the same type of mom that says they will do anything for their kids even kill. However a dog is more important then your kid.

Cps is not there over the dog. They are there because the injury doesnt match the story.

I don't consider a spiral leg fracture a minor injury. I love my animals, but none of them are more important than my kids.

This is why proper training is vital when you mix children and animals. Large dogs don't understand their own strength a lot of times.

My dogs have proper training as to not jump like that. There is no reason to get rid of an animal over something that could have been prevented and was caused by human ignorance. My animals are not more important than my kid, but I will not give them up over something like that.
